Intermediate Electrical Engineer (Power Systems)

Sudbury, ON / project sites — Full-time3–5 years experience

We're looking for an intermediate electrical engineer to grow with our power systems consulting practice. You'll work across power systems studies, protection and control, substation design, and commissioning and testing, as well as industrial medium- and low-voltage electrical design, control, and automation — supporting projects from concept through detailed design to site energization for utility, renewable, and mining clients.

What you'll do

Perform power system studies — load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and grounding — using ETAP or similar tools
Develop protection and control designs for MV/HV substations, including relay selection and settings
Prepare design deliverables: single-line diagrams, layouts, schematics, equipment specifications, and cable schedules
Design industrial MV/LV power distribution, motor control, and automation systems (MCCs, VFDs, PLC/SCADA interfaces)
Support factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, and energization
Coordinate with other disciplines, vendors, contractors, and clients from concept to close-out

What you bring

Bachelor's degree (4-year) in Electrical Engineering, or CET diploma with equivalent experience
3–5 years of relevant experience in power systems, substation, or industrial electrical design
Registered EIT with a Canadian engineering association preferred; P.Eng designation is an asset, not required
Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (CEC, CSA, IEEE)
Clear communication in reports, drawings, and client-facing discussions

Nice to have

Hands-on experience with ETAP, AutoCAD, and relay programming tools
Field exposure to commissioning or testing of MV/HV equipment
English/French bilingualism

Electrical Field Technician — Substations, MV/LV Equipment, Pumps & Motors

Sudbury, ON / project sites — Full-time3–7 years field experience

We're seeking an electrical field technician to support field installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical equipment in power substations and industrial facilities — working on medium- and low-voltage systems including transformers, switchgear, breakers, protection relays, MCCs, VFDs, motors, and pumps.

What you'll do

Inspect, test, commission, and maintain substations, MV/LV switchgear, transformers, breakers, CTs/PTs, and control panels
Perform point-to-point wiring checks, breaker timing, insulation and contact resistance, ratio and polarity tests, and energization checks
Troubleshoot and maintain motors, pumps, MCCs, VFDs, soft starters, and motor control circuits
Work with multimeters, insulation testers, low-resistance ohmmeters, relay test sets, phase rotation and power quality meters
Read single-lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams; prepare field reports, deficiency lists, and as-built markups
Follow lockout/tagout, arc-flash boundaries, permit-to-work processes, and site electrical safety rules

What you bring

Electrical Technician or Technologist diploma, or equivalent electrical trade and field experience
3–7 years of hands-on field experience with industrial electrical systems, substations, motors, or commissioning
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and equipment manuals
Strong understanding of lockout/tagout and electrical safety procedures
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to field sites

Nice to have

Substation experience from 4.16 kV to 44 kV, 69 kV or higher
Experience with SEL, GE Multilin, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Eaton, or ABB relays and equipment
Omicron, Doble, Megger, or Vanguard test sets; protection scheme testing
Red Seal licence or CET designation; WHMIS, First Aid, Confined Space, or mine-site safety training
