Intermediate Electrical Engineer (Power Systems)
We're looking for an intermediate electrical engineer to grow with our power systems consulting practice. You'll work across power systems studies, protection and control, substation design, and commissioning and testing, as well as industrial medium- and low-voltage electrical design, control, and automation — supporting projects from concept through detailed design to site energization for utility, renewable, and mining clients.
What you'll do
- Perform power system studies — load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and grounding — using ETAP or similar tools
- Develop protection and control designs for MV/HV substations, including relay selection and settings
- Prepare design deliverables: single-line diagrams, layouts, schematics, equipment specifications, and cable schedules
- Design industrial MV/LV power distribution, motor control, and automation systems (MCCs, VFDs, PLC/SCADA interfaces)
- Support factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, and energization
- Coordinate with other disciplines, vendors, contractors, and clients from concept to close-out
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree (4-year) in Electrical Engineering, or CET diploma with equivalent experience
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in power systems, substation, or industrial electrical design
- Registered EIT with a Canadian engineering association preferred; P.Eng designation is an asset, not required
- Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (CEC, CSA, IEEE)
- Clear communication in reports, drawings, and client-facing discussions
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with ETAP, AutoCAD, and relay programming tools
- Field exposure to commissioning or testing of MV/HV equipment
- English/French bilingualism
